Ephedrine–Why is it banned?
7 years ago admin 0
Derived from ephedra plants, ephedrine is the active ingredient of many medicines to lose weight. In response to mounting evidence of undesirable side effects and even deaths related to weight loss supplements containing ephedrine, the FDA has decided to ban all sales of supplements that contain Ephedra.
Ephedra vs Ephedrine Alkaloids
Ephedrine comes from a Chinese shrub ma-huang (Ephedra). Ephedra has 3 different species: Ephedra sinica, Ephedra equisentina, and Ephedra intermedia. One of the active compounds in the plant stem is alkaloid ephedrine–FDA has banned the sales of all Ephedrine products in the United States.
Companies such as Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals has removed the banned “alkaloids” and instead began selling the Ephedra / DMAA free Lipodrene.
Even after Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals has removed the banned Ephedra, Lipodrene is still the #1 most popular weight loss supplement. Why?
Lipodrene claims it provides many benefits for losing weight, amongst others, it can increase energy, reduce food cravings, burns fat, boost metabolism.
